Michael started skating at the age of 8 when his parents took him to a local ice rink in his hometown of Los Angeles, CA USA. He quickly picked up the sport, began private lessons and skated for the United States for over 10 years as an amateur skater. During his years an amateur skater Michael was part of the 1998 Jr. Olympic Team, 2001 US Team and in 2004 Professional World Bronze Medalist. He trained under the worlds best figure skating coaches in the sport such as Frank Carroll, Robin Cousins, Sashi Kuchiki, Ken Congemi, Cindy Stuart, Russ Witherby, Kathy Casey, Janet Champion, Denise Kuchiki and Karen Kresge.

When Michael turned 18 years of age he quickly became the one of the youngest professional figure skaters in the world by turning from an amateur figure skater for the United States to a Professional Figure Skater which than he started touring the world with different international ice productions. Michael skated around the would touring over 600 different cities on different continents in over 40 countries. Michael has been featured and starred in over 20 live touring productions including touring with Holiday On Ice, Disney On Ice and many other well known skating tours. In 2005, Michael landed the role of Dash from Disney/Pixars Disney On Ice "The Incredibles" and was the principal of the domestic and international tour. Michael has also appeared in many figure skating commercials and was also the face/spokesperson for Disney, HydroSport, Holiday On Ice, Iceoplex, and Feld Entertainment.

Kuluva also starred in the 2007 documentary, "The Making of Spirit" which was filmed over a 3 month span of time in Holland and Germany while Michael plus the creative team of the ice show created a brand new production named "Spirit". The documentary film finally showed the behind the scenes of making a multi-million dollar touring production with international award winning set designs and costumes. The documentary went on to DVD internationally in 2008 plus is sold internationally online. After Michael skated on the Today Show, Regis and Kelly, Univision, France Television, Good Morning America and doing the motion picture with SONY/MGM " The Cutting Edge 2, he "accomplished everything I wanted to in the sport so I moved on to another career, fashion."

At his young age, Michael has worked his way up to be one of the youngest, most talented and recognized names in the professional figure skating world and is now conquering the fashion world as his fashion brand "Tumbler and Tipsy" has sky rocketed by his surprise when it launched in 2009. Tumbler and Tipsy has expanded into a full international brand that is seen in over 100 publications. Michael Kuluva is the worlds first fashion designer to do a complete ready to wear unisex environmentally friendly clothing line produced under the label Tumbler and Tipsy. Celebrities around the world adore this new adventerous fashion label and have a strong following of supporters of Kuluva's vision into the creative world of fashion. Michael has also made history with being the first and only figure skater to come out and support the NOH8 against Prop 8 Campaign in California/United States. Kuluva is a strong activist about everyone having the same human rights as everyone else. Michael is eager to continue into the future with all his charities that he is involved with, his skating career and of course his fashion label Tumbler and Tipsy.
